Flute Hand Position & Posture Tips

  1. Use the fleshy parts of your fingers on the keys (not bony part or nails).

  2. Aim for the center of the keys (even if you have a closed hole flute).

  3. Be sure to lift the flute away from your body to allow more room in your shoulder joints and rib cage.

  4. Bring the flute to your face; do not crane your neck to bring your face to the flute.
