Flute Vibrato Tutorial now on YouTube!
A regular vibrato practice is crucial for intermediate and advanced flute students. Vibrato is not only means of adding beauty and musical expression to your performance, but it can also enhance the fullness and projection of the flute sound. Learning to control air speed and pressure is a valuable tool that, in addition to flute vibrato, can apply to many other aspects of flute playing (even articulation, believe it or not!).
In this methodical, but music based flute vibrato tutorial, I go over some of the fundamentals of how I teach vibrato production to flutists of all ages and levels. This seven-leveled exercise uses the concept of metered vibrato to build quality muscle memory and can even help when studying phrasing.
